Best Exercises to Stay Active on Vacation

Our bodies need regular rest from working out. It’s healthy to take a break, but some of us still like to stay active while on vacation.

Working out while on vacation can help keep your energy and metabolism up. Even shorter workouts keep you motivated and prevent the need to play catch up when you get home and back into your regular routine.

While I am traveling, I like to remind myself that simple movements can make a big difference. Something like a long walk with no headphones, listening to the sounds of nature and taking in the scenery around you is not only good for your body, but for your mind. I love to do this while I am in Italy visiting my family.

Basic bodyweight exercises are perfect when traveling. If you want to add a challenge, you can pack compact equipment like resistance bands, a jump rope, or a TRX. You can easily create a quick circuit or short Tabata set for a quick and effective workout.

Below are some of my favorite bodyweight exercises you can do to stay active while on vacation. You can add resistance bands or weights if you have them accessible for an additional challenge. Maybe you even get your friends or family to participate too. After all, vacation is all about having fun together!

Bodyweight Exercises for Travel:

  • Bodyweight squat

  • Planks

  • Pushups

  • Bicycles

  • Lunges

  • Jumping jacks

  • Burpees

If you choose to exercise while on vacation, remember to warm up and stretch just like you would in the gym or at home.

Most importantly, remember that you are on vacation and you don’t need to push yourself too hard. If you have the time and the energy, incorporating a few quick exercises while traveling can make all the difference. But our bodies need rest too. Rest makes us stronger, prevents injury. Enjoying time with your family and friends is important for your mental and physical health.

Reach out to your trainers and we can sit down with you to find a plan that works best for you while traveling, whether for vacation or work.
